Water Group Exercise Instructor

Under the supervision of the Aquatic Director, the Water Group Exercise Instructor will instruct group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement. The Group Exercise Instructor will provide a quality experience to members, participants, staff and others that focuses on the YMCA core values caring, honesty, respect, responsibility.

• Lead energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
• Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living.
• Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
• Build effective, authentic relationships with members; help members connect with each other and the YMCA.
• Ensure a high level of customer service which enhances the member, program participant and guest experience and satisfaction.
• Consistently provide friendly, courteous assistance, exceeding customer expectations every day which includes building and maintaining professional relationships with members, staff, and community partners.
• Organize and put away needed class equipment
• Attend staff meetings and participate in regular in-service training sessions as required.
• Follow and enforce all pool rules.
• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting all participants, maintaining a clean and safe facility and demonstrating professional conduct at all times.
• Responds to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.
• All other duties as requested.

• Group exercise teaching experience and certification or training in areas of expertise.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds, and occasionally move up to seventy-five (75) pounds in the form of supplies or equipment.
• Able to sit, stand and bend to perform appropriate tasks.
• Must be able to move at an appropriate pace to respond to emergencies.
• Follow all safety requirements of the Salina Family YMCA.
• May be required to stand for extended periods of time.
• Work in different temperature environments.
