Overview

Under the supervision of the Director overseeing the department, the Graduate Student will assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating all assigned programs as needed. The Graduate Student will provide a quality experience to members, vendors, children, and parents that focuses on the YMCA's core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. The ideal candidate will be someone who studies in a related field and is willing to build relationships with staff, volunteers, and parents.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with implementing, developing, and monitoring the programs.
  • Participate in orientation meetings and training.
  • Assist in recruiting volunteers.
  • Assist with the implementation of program marketing materials.
  • Relate positively to members and potential members and portray a good customer service attitude.
  • Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints professionally and promptly.
  • May assist in identifying prospects and/or soliciting monetary and other donations for the Strong Kids Annual Campaign or other fundraising or community events.
  • Attend all staff meetings and training required by the YMCA.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting all participants, maintaining a clean and safe facility, and demonstrating professional conduct.
  • All other duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in the Kansas Wesleyan University MBA Program.
  • Bachelor’s degree with qualifications (i.e., minimum 3.00 GPA) for admission to the MBA program.
  • Meet the 2-year Graduate Student academic program partnered with Kansas Wesleyan University.
  • The ideal candidate will have strong public relations, organizational, and interpersonal skills. This person must present a professional image and possess excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Must be able to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to create a risk-free environment daily.
  • Certifications: CPR/FA, within 60 days of hire
  • Students will receive tuition reemission from Kansas Wesleyan University.
